Volume 3, Issue 7, July 2004 POST ELECTION Well, I have to say, the last three months were really interesting and very educational. At the outset, I have to heartily thank all those who donated their time and money towards the campaign. The many hours of volunteer time cannot and should not go unrecognized. Of course I cannot begin to name people, because I run the risk of missing someone and I would not want to do that. Everyone’s help no matter how brief contributed to the overall success of this campaign. Even though we didn’t win, we went from a 9% popular vote to almost 20% of the popular vote. That is excellent considering the national average was only 15%. Now, let’s get into some of the life learning that went along with this adventure. Some things did not go as planned and there were some surprises as well. Many people stepped up to the plate and many did not. The reasons for both sides were as varied as the colours of the rainbow. Most of the people I met while canvassing at their homes were gracious. Many were undecided and only a few were hostile. The amazing part is the new friends I got to know along the way. The deep conversations that I was able to have while canvassing and visiting in the office will be what I remember most. Getting to know who people are and why they do what they do is what I seem to thrive on. I think the most gratifying were the volunteers who did it just because they believed in me and the party. I will have memories to cherish for a long time to come. the bottom line is get involved. Get involved in life! Be part of the process, not part of the problem. I have to say that the experience was well worth it and if everything lines up right over the next few months or years, it will happen again. Cheers… Ted CHRISTMASS IN JULY PARTY JULY 24, 2004 AT 43 ALBERT STREET IN ST. CATHARINES . BEGINS AT 4 PM AND GOES UNTIL ??? THIS IS OUR ANNUAL FUNDRAISER FOR THE LOCAL FOOD BANK.
