MIND BODY AND SPIRIT
The mind, body and spirit are one. Not separate. One! Without strong spirituality, the mind is weak. If the mind is weak, the body suffers. If the body suffers, the spirit is broken.
Disconnection from the spiritual world around us brings rootlessness. Without foundation as a person, we have low self-esteem. It manifests itself as job tension, relationship tension, and/or personal anxiety. Then it turns on the body. Without the original energy force, we wind up with ulcers, nervous tension, high blood pressure, heart disease.
We must let go and trust the spirit. Trust the self. Call it what you will…God…Goddess…Buddha…Allah…The Universal Subconscious…call it the Self. This energy exists. It is part of us and it is part of all living creatures.
It seems, at first, a hard stretch to blame physical discomfort or illness on a lack of spirituality. It is abstract and it manifests itself as trust in our own intuition. When we’re in touch with the deepest part of ourselves, we instinctively make the right choices. The feeling says, “This is the way to turn. This is good. This is right. This is the way things should be.”
Then we can let go. We can lose our inhibitions in the strength of the spirit. When you trust that force, you realize nothing and no one can hurt you, except you. You get hurt only when you go against the direction that your spiritual self is guiding you.
Again, some things beyond personal control can throw you off course. It is your reaction to those things that determines the quality of life you have. Your reaction is how you once again regain your balance.
If the spirit is deep, the mind is peaceful.
If the mind is at peace, the body is strong.
A strong body brings peace of mind.
Peace of mind opens the heart to the spirit.
This is the continuum between body, spirit and mind.
Spirit, mind and body are one. The first signs of illness, for me, are the first signs that there is something I must work out. I feel meditative. I sit and try to figure out what is really causing the trouble. I ask, “What caused this unbalance?” I look to my relationships, because everything we do and everything that affects us is the result of our relationship with ourselves, with others or with this planet.
Once I figure out the cause of this loss of balance, I deal with it. If it is with myself, I determine where I stopped being true to myself and re-orient my focus. If it has to do with a person, then I go to that person and correct whatever happened. Often, when I outline my anguish, my antagonist says they didn’t even realize what they did would affect me adversely.
If my problem has somehow put a wedge between me and the planet, I go outdoors, to the source. The beauty of earth is a great healer. Time is the best medicine. For every moment invested in the well being of the planet, peace is returned tenfold.
Again, if we have a good strong spiritual feeling, that feeling brings us peace, harmony and tranquility. If we trust the spirit, then our mind is free. If our mind is free and our mind is light, then the illnesses that affect the body are fewer and farther between.
I was born in 1948. Most people peg me a good ten years younger than my actual age. I don’t feel my age (whatever that is supposed to mean). I suspect my younger appearance has much to do with balance and the removal of pressures from my life.
Even when life “does it” to me, even when something adverse enters my sphere of happiness, I take it for what it is. “This moment is as it should be.” is an oft-repeated saying. I’ll go a step farther. “The moment is as it is.” Its use is for learning. We learn from the journey, one step at a time.
The above is an excerpt from my book BEST IN LIFE (M.A.P.P. 1997). If you are interested in ordering this amazing book I can send you a personalized copy.

Brodi’s Bits
I want to touch on customer service this month. Customer service is extremely important and can determine whether or not someone will do business with you. Try to remember the smaller things like returning phone calls and replying to emails because they are in fact the larger things.
If you leave a message or an email for someone, don’t you expect a response? And when the person in question does not respond, don’t you consider it rude?
Now I understand that everyone these days is too busy, but it only takes one moment to hit the reply button in your email and write the words – ‘thanks for your email’ or ‘I am in receipt of your email’ or ‘we are not interested’. Even returning a phone call, if you don’t have time that day write the message down and make an effort to return the person’s phone call within a week. Explain the delay and the receiver will understand and move on. If they never hear from you, they will never forget that you didn’t have the courtesy to return their call.
In today’s busy world we sometimes forget the little courtesies that help make this journey pleasant. Remember to return emails and phone calls in a timely manner. The person on the other end will appreciate it.
