SMILE ON THE INSIDE

When you smile on the inside, amazing energy erupts on the outside.  I am sure you have heard many people say, “Smile”, but what does that actually mean?

Try walking around all day with this giant smile painted across your face.  People will wonder what drug you are on.  Or, they are wondering when the cart is going to come along and take you away.

Picture it…

(Big smile) - “Hi, my name is Ted” - (Huge grin) - “Wonderful day today isn’t it?” (Much teeth showing).  By the way, the broader your smile, the wider your eyes get.

Interesting visual, right?  Actually pretty scary.

Last month I talked about being at peace and this month I want to give you a tool to help you get there.

Smile from within.  Think happy…be happy.  I want you to try this little exercise.  Sit quietly and concentrate from within and tell your body to smile.

1. Take a deep breath.

2. When you let it out (slowly) think of and picture a smile.

Ok - try it again.

1. Take a deep breath.

2. When you let it out slowly and think of something good as you get your body to smile.

Here is what should happen…

1. You will feel lighter and less stressed.

2. Your face will lose its tense feeling.

3. You will feel more relaxed.

And finally,

4. Your eyes will smile.

Yes…your eyes will smile.

When you can feel your eyes smiling, you have mastered the smile from within.

In some cultures it is said that the eyes are the windows to the soul.  This saying is truer than you think.  Look at a little baby’s eyes just before he or she cracks a smile.  You know they are going to smile before they actually do it simply by looking at the eyes.

Next time you are interacting with someone, look directly into their eyes and smile at them using only your eyes and begin the interaction.  You will be amazed at what will happen.

A sincere smile from within is better than a false smile from without.

When you master the smile within you will be one step closer to being at peace.  Try getting angry while you are smiling, it cannot be done.

So again…

1. Take a deep breath.

2. Let the air out slowly and bring that smile from deep within your soul and let that smile beam through your eyes.

Peace.

Ted

Janet

“Great article..Again you're right on.. I know what being at peace is like and I agree that it all has to do with you and what you're willing accept into your life to bring you that peace and realize that although you can't change yourself as you would like, you can come to accept yourself for who you are and learn to live life...”

Thanks Anne, Janet and Lori.

Did you know that The Mouradian Group does workplace interventions? Recent clients have ranged from municipalities to private individuals with help being provided with everything from poor group dynamics to actual bullying. The most unexpected results have come where that proverbial line in the sand has not been crossed. A letter and a phone call are often enough to show that things - while not yet completely off the rails - are sufficiently serious to warrant some type of action. More often than not that is the end of the matter and everyone seems happy with the results.
