STRESS AND THE MODEL

You are going to think that I have lost my marbles, but I have a true story to share with you that will literally blow you away.  It is even hard for me to believe, but I know it’s true as I know this person well.

A few months ago we hired two new Account Facilitators who are going to work on our Toronto market.  Their names are Dario and Marianne.  They are a young professional couple that heard about The Model and called to see if they would be a fit.  Well, needless to say we all connected very well. They enrolled in our Facilitator Training Program and have begun their new journey in The Mouradian Model for Cooperative Action.

A major prerequisite for becoming an Account Facilitator is to understand, embrace and live The Model every day.  When I first met Dario, I noticed that his nose had a blemish on it; almost like a cold soar. I didn’t think much of it. The next time we met, there it was again, this time in a different place. As the weeks went on the marks were still there.

I asked him if he had scraped himself on something. He said that he has had this problem with his skin for over 15 years.  He believes it is because of stress.  He said that he has tried everything to get rid of the soars, but to no avail.  I told him that the true test as to whether he was living The Model would be to see a clear and healed face.  That would show that he has eliminated the majority of stress in his life and that he is truly in control.  We laughed as I was partially joking, not thinking that The Model could actually clear up his face.

Last week we met for a training session and he sat there with a big smile on his face. He asked if I had noticed that his face had cleared up. Dario was very excited and attributes The Model as the reason for his face clearing up.  Actually, it is the fact that he now feels that he is in control of this life and therefore has eliminated the stress that contributed to the soars.

The Mouradian Model for Cooperative Action is so powerful that it actually will clear up your face. Sounds like a commercial! Seriously through, by using The Model in his daily life, Dario is able to take control of his relationships both personally and professionally without being controlling.

He is now able to have a voice whenever he has a conflict and is able to tell people what he needs, not what they are doing wrong. He is able to let go of all the small stuff that used to make him crazy.  He is more open to allowing others to be who they were meant to be.

Dario can now accommodate others without feeling that he is giving something up, yet he is strong enough to stand up for his sense of self. The Model teaches you that life flows easier with mutual trust and respect, rather than power and ownership. Dario can now walk away from stressful situations without worry or bother.

Stress is a killer.  Remember it is not what happens to you that counts it is how you respond that really matters. You and only you create the stress in your life.

Be at peace!

Ted

SIDEBAR

By Pierre R. Ouellette Hon.B.A., LL.B.

Incorporation is an important step in the life of a business. Unfortunately the true value of incorporating is often not seen until the business faces a crisis such as a lawsuit or bankruptcy. The primary advantage of incorporation is the ‘limited liability’ the corporate entity affords its shareholders (owners). Typically, shareholders are not liable for the debts and obligations of the corporation. Creditors will therefore not be able to come knocking at the door of a shareholder to seek payment of business debts. (In a partnership or sole proprietorship the owner's personal assets are at risk and may be used to pay these debts.)

Another advantage is that a corporation’s life is not dependent upon its members.  A corporation possesses the feature of unlimited life. If an owner dies or wishes to sell their interest the corporation will continue to exist and do business. Along the same lines the ownership of a corporation is easily transferable.

Corporations are not without disadvantages. There is a certain level of complexity and expense in forming and maintaining a corporation. But the primary disadvantage to a corporation is double taxation. Profits of a corporation are effectively taxed twice. They are taxed first as income to the corporation, then as dividend income to the shareholder.

As a business grows the advantages of incorporating do tend to outweigh the disadvantages. It becomes a sought after shield to protect hard earned personal assets and thus easily worth the expense.

As usual I welcome your comments and observations and can be reached at Pierre@CooperativeAction.com.

MOM'S TWO CENTS

TRADITIONS

I love the idea of traditions. I remember all the Sundays that we used to spend at my grandmothers house, (dinner, family time, Tiny Talent Time on television.) Everyone spending time together meant so much with aunts, uncles and cousins around the dinner table. I want that when I have grandchildren. I want to keep the tradition going.

Unfortunately, people are so busy and both parents have to work to make ends meet. We seem to be losing our sense of tradition. Do you know how to make the food your grandparents made when you were young? Do you know how to make the perogies or cabbage rolls or canned pickles just right? We are too busy to keep up the traditions that we grew up with.

The sad part is that our children are the ones that will suffer. When we are long gone and their kids ask them how to do something from back in the day, they won’t know because we were too busy to show them; or even take the time to learn ourselves.

Keep up your families traditions! If you don’t have any then make some new ones of your own. Make Sundays your family day. Your kids will love it. Every year we go to the Grape and Wine parade and have since I was little. We go to the Balls Falls craft show and get apple cider. We go to the Rio Lane tree lighting. My daughter looks forward to the Merritton carnival all year.  I love the idea of traditions.
